Caleb came to us from a family in Tennessee after his first rehoming didn't work out. He was a championship jumper and had some impressive awards under his belt.
Unfortunately, he suffered an injury that ended his jumping career. His previous family hoped to find him a good home where he could learn to be a happy horse again.
After his first attempt at a retirement home, his family contacted us. It was not hard to see that he was upset and experiencing some internal struggles.
He did not trust us right away, and it appeared he had been mistreated before he found our sanctuary. We slowly worked to gain his trust and allowed him to just be a horse in our pastures.
We started to see him come out of his shell and enjoy having room to run and be free from a stall.
As time passed, his joy turned to trust, and he began seeking our attention and affection. This is when we knew he realized he was happy again.
He is now a herd leader, taking his job seriously. We love seeing what time and love did for Caleb.
He enjoys a young retirement and being a free spirit in our pastures.
